You will receive 25% of the Lightly Loved book’s value in trade credit. The book’s value is defined as the price A Likely Story can charge for the book. Trade credit records are the responsibility of the customer.

For example, a customer brings in a hardback book and we price the book at $6.00. The customer’s credit would be $1.50 (25% of $6.00).

To use trade credit, you may use up to 50% of the price of another Lightly Loved book.  For example; if you purchase a book for $5.00, you may use up to $2.50 in trade credit towards that book. The remaining half must be paid by cash, check or charge.

We accept both fiction and nonfiction in hardcover and paperback. As a general rule, we do not take magazines, encyclopedia sets, and Reader's Digest condensed books. We do not accept any books that have highlighting, underlining, water damage, visible mold, smoke or musty smells.

There will probably be some books that we cannot use. This may be because of condition or simply because we already have multiple copies of that particular title. Concerning the books that we cannot use, you have two options:

1. You can take them back. *We ask that you pick up the books we cannot use as soon as possible after we call, as we do not have space to store them for any length of time. If you cannot pick up the books to be returned within one month of our initial call, we will be forced to donate them for you.

2. We can donate them. *We donate the books we cannot use to several different charitable organizations.  We can let you know which one we will be donating your books to at the time we receive your books.  We currently deal with Carroll County Hospital Center, Springfield Hospital Center, Appalachian Mission Store, and Big Ugly, VA for the children’s books.

Frequent Buyer Club Details

Members will receive A Likely Story Club Card which may be used by the club member and    immediate family members.  The card must be presented at the time of purchase for the purchase to qualify, and it must also be presented when redeeming rewards.

The club member will receive a 15% off their next purchase when their purchases have reached $200. 

The club card is the responsibility of the member.  We do not keep copies at the store.

Educator Discounts!

All educators get 20% off classroom supplies and 10% off personal items.  Plus we will be having special educator evenings. Sign up for our mailing list and we will send you an email as to when the next one will be. We can special order pretty much anything.  Is there a publisher you prefer and we don’t currently carry?  Let us know and we will see about stocking your request. We have coupons for “Good Student” and “Thanks” for you to give to your students on those special occasions that you want to pat them on the back.  We also have free delivery to all local schools.  Don’t forget your tax exempt card!
